A Nation in Ruins. People in Need.
On March 28, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, killing thousands, injuring many more, and displacing entire communities across the country. Homes, monasteries, schools, and essential infrastructure were reduced to rubble. The quake struck just as people were preparing to welcome the Burmese New Year, turning a season of renewal into one of loss, grief, and survival.
At Better Burma, we responded immediately. Within hours, we were coordinating emergency aid with trusted, grassroots responders on the ground, many in conflict zones and hard-to-reach areas that often receive aid the least. Thanks to our team on the ground and trusted networks, we’ve been able to deliver food, clean water, medicine, tents, solar lights, baby formula, fuel, and other critical supplies directly into the hands of those who need them most.
But this is just the beginning.
The challenges are enormous: beyond emergency relief, survivors also face the long road of recovery and rebuilding. That’s why our efforts go beyond first response—we’re also supporting long-term recovery through water filtration systems, mobile charging stations, household sanitation solutions, and temporary infrastructure for the displaced.
As one of the few international organizations not working through official military-controlled channels, Better Burma offers a trustworthy, community-led way to get help where it’s truly needed. Every dollar you give supports real people and real needs, without interference.
The crisis is ongoing. But with your support, we can continue this vital work, providing hope today, and building resilience for tomorrow.
